This paper explores the arena of Iranian poet Garous Abdolmalekian’s poems, in which psychological barriers are attempted to be created in the poetry as a defence and weapon of resistance against reality, the trauma. The research, therefore, hypothesises the creation of a barrier and space of temporary refuge, where the speaker/ poet takes refuge and projects the trauma via literary language. However, after a close reading of Garous Abdolmalekian's collection Lean Against This Late Hour, this paper analyses the role of imaginary space behind the psychological wall not only as a site of refuge but also of confrontation, which allows the poet to reinterpret the world through the lenses of the desired world. Therefore, the space gives a new dimension to the attempt of escape in the form of linguistic resistance to the repressive structures and feelings. Moreover, using the framework of Carl Jung's concept of "Projection", which is the transfer of emotions onto somebody or something unconsciously, and Cathy Caruth's conception of "Trauma", which refers to the emotional and psychological impact of disturbing experiences like violence and war. Moreover, this study employs a qualitative approach and close textual analysis as a research methodology.
