Abstract
‘Gandhian Whirlwind and the Image of Mahatma Gandhi in Indo-English Fiction’ deals with the impact of Mahatma Gandhi in Indo-English fiction during his life and after his assassination. He practiced ‘Truth and Nonviolence’ for the entire part of his life to deal with his personal problems and also to get the freedom of the country and left an indelible sign in the minds and hearts of the masses and its result was that almost all the writers of India of his time and some years after his assassination were greatly influenced by his ideals, philosophy and personality and a number of writers like Mulk Raj Anand, Raja Rao, R. K. Narayan, K. R. S. Venkataramani, Nayantara Sahgal, Khuswant Singh, Krishnaswamy Nagarajan, A. S. P. Ayyar, Bhabani Bhattacharya, Manohar Malgonkar, Khwaja Abbas, and Chaman Nahal. All of them presented Gandhi’s ideals, philosophy, and personality in their works of fiction, and enriched Indo-English fiction.
